Once again, Bruce checked the weather and found out today was supposed to be dry and clear so were scheduled a Tuscan Chianti tour.  Thankfully, it was dry and clear and in the 60’s which made for a nice day out in the Tuscan countryside.  We met with 3 other couples down by the Ponte Vecchio at the Tuscan Wine Time which is the company who does these tours.  The first 45 minutes we learned how to taste properly and “how this divine nectar” is made.  Our teacher lived and worked at a winery in Napa for a few years so he knew a lot about our wines as well as Italy’s.  He said the best place to get wine is at the Costco in Scottsdale!  We then climbed into a big van and started the drive out to the countryside of Florence.  We made one short stop at the Michelangelo Piazzale to admire the view over Florence. On our short drive out to the wineries we passed through some beautiful countryside!  The first winery we were met by friendly staff to give us a tour and some wine to taste.  They were in the middle of crushing the olives for their own olive oil brand and other olive tree owners who would bring them to this winery for processing.  At the second winery we were once again met by friendly staff and given a thoroughly informational tour and then seated for a light Tuscan lunch with liberal wine tasting.  It was all so delicious and in such a beautiful countryside location.  We also enjoyed meeting and discussing our trips with the other couples.  One couple had just married in Paris last week and another couple had just become engaged in Spain.  It was a fun afternoon.  As I write this Bruce is checking the weather and has found that Wednesday could be dry so it looks like we will be going to Pisa on Wednesday.  Stay tuned…………….
